Review: Brooke

Brooke
Brooke by Veronica Rossi

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

It was...okay. I don't really see the point in this novella, unless it REALLY ties into the final novel.
I liked learning about Brooke but was distracted by the others, I didn't find her compelling, I wanted to know what Aria and Perry were doing every time they were mentioned.
I can see where the story is going however. I think I know who she'll be with and I thought the same thing at the end of the second novel.

Review: The Distance Between Us

The Distance Between Us
The Distance Between Us by Kasie West

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have realized there is something worse than one star crappy books and that is books that cause the reader to fall in love with the characters and then the damn book comes to an END!
I finished this book wanting to follow Xander and Cayman more and more. This book shouldn't have ended...like ever, I loved it and want more.
That is far worse than a book where the characters are boring and easily forgettable.
Soo, sooo, sooooo, good.

Review: Walking Disaster

Walking Disaster
Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I'll start this by saying I wasn't a huge fan of [b:Beautiful Disaster|11505797|Beautiful Disaster (Beautiful, #1)|Jamie McGuire|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1358259032s/11505797.jpg|16441531].
That being said I was hopeful that this would be good, I love to get the guys perspective. This just didn't do it for me.
This is NOT a stand alone novel, too much information is assumed and the plot is choppy. There are so many deleted and glazed over scenes that the flow is terrible.
As a companion novel I find it lazy and lacking in depth. McGuire gives more of a summary into Travis, it feels like she had a great idea and the inspiration fizzled out and lost steam. Travis calls other guys 'pussies' and I found him to be one most of the time. I am not a Travis swooner so I wasn't surprised. He was an ass in BD and was an ass in this one too, I was surprised by how pathetic he became, always turning to sex and alcohol- nothing attractive about that.
Needless to say I was disappointed.

Review: Through the Ever Night

Through the Ever Night
Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved [b:Under the never sky|11594257|Under the Never Sky (Under the Never Sky, #1)|Veronica Rossi|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1356591725s/11594257.jpg|15093785] and somehow this sequel was better than it.
The rule is- the sequel is never better than the first and nicknamed a 'filler' book suffering from a sophomore slump. Well this novel broke all those rules and was fantastic, I can't for the next one and the novella.

Rossi.....write faster!!!!

Review: If You Stay

If You Stay
If You Stay by Courtney Cole

Yes, the first chapter is fantastic.
The rest of the novel is very heavy and rather good. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I love unexpected surprises, especially when I pay for them ;)

Review: Until Fountain Bridge

Until Fountain Bridge
Until Fountain Bridge by Samantha Young

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Now THIS is what a novella should be like. The reader has a vague idea what happened to some beloved 'supporting characters' and the novella tells what actually happened.

Thank you Young for giving us the details on Ellie and Adam, I knew it would be hot.

Review: This Girl

This Girl
This Girl by Colleen Hoover

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have to admit, I love this series. I know it's a bit of a stretch with the 21 y/o teacher and all, but the slam really got me.
Additionally, I love it when authors write an additional novel in the love interest perspective.
This is a fantastic companion to Slammed.
I thought it was fantastic how Hoover used the angle of Will telling Layken his story during their honeymoon.
I truly hate to see the story end but at least it ended well.

Review: Spirit

Spirit
Spirit by Brigid Kemmerer

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I really wanted to love this book and, at first, I did.
I just can't get over what HAPPENED, if you've read it you know what I'm talking about.
As if Hunter hasn't been through enough.
I know the author doesn't want to stick to the typical YA style, and that's one of the aspects I love about her writing but come on!!! give a guy a break.
In the end, it made the story hallow for me and I can't get through it. I was becoming invested in their relationship and happy for both of them, they'd both lost so much and deserved a chance, it just felt wrong to have that happen.
I thought it was gutsy and took a lot of risk (which I love), it was just more tragic than anything, and not in a good way.
This is definitely my least favorite, by a long shot. It just made me sad.

The Forever of Ella and Micha
The Forever of Ella and Micha by Jessica Sorensen

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I thought this was a great companion to 'Secret'. I loved that we were able to see where their relationship went. I must admit, I might be a little more curious about Lila and Ethan's story, there is so much mystery there.

Review: Rock With Me

Rock With Me
Rock With Me by Kristen Proby

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

After not loving the first book I am totally diggin' this series. The girls are hilarious especially when they're drunk (who isn't?).
I like how this author doesn't always stay with the typically storyline arc- beginning, climax, HEA. There is variety and no annoying angst that some authors feel they have to include to make it more believable or something.
Additionally, the characters are so much fun and the sex is HOT!
I am looking forward to the next one.

Review: The Collector

The Collector
The Collector by Victoria Scott

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I tried...I really really did. I just didn't like it. In the end, I didn't think Dante was good enough for Charlie. It just didn't work for me. I probably will not read the next one the blurb doesn't sound like my kind of story. I think Blue was good enough for her and he was deserving.
I do see many many people loving this book, so I don't discourage people from reading it, it just wasn't for me.

I had a lot of fun reading this book. I read it from a recommendation and did NOT read the summary first. Therefore I want in completely blind. Let me tell you, I should totally do that again, it had me so hooked I couldn't put the book/kindle down. I am really looking forward to the next one...

Review: Double Time

Double Time
Double Time by Olivia Cunning

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

It wasn't my favorite. And, NO! not because of the three way relationship, (Who wouldn't love that?)
I had issues with the Trey and Ethan.
Trey got over Brian strangely and Ethan, don't get me started. He cheated on Reagan and then tried to get Trey in bed while Trey was with Reagan. He's an asshole and I don't like that all of it was just forgiven. I call bullshit.
I did, however, loved the update on the other couples and did enjoy Reagan, she's awesome. Trey and Reagan's relationship was really sweet, I just wish Ethan was more developed and showed more regret.
"I couldn't help myself," truly is the WORST excuse ever.

I am bummed the series is over (haven't read Eric's story yet.) I wonder if Cunning will branch off to do a series on Exodus End. I would love that.

Review: My Soul to Take

My Soul to Take
My Soul to Take by Rachel Vincent

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Interesting concept. It is totally different from almost everything out there. The plot was well laid out and the characters were likable and not...well stupid like so many YA characters these days. No ridiculous decisions or anything. However, I don't feel a need to read to rest of the series. I'm just that interested, I didn't connect with the characters...at all. Although, I do see why readers love this series so much. It is lovable, just not for me.
