Review: Walking Disaster

Walking Disaster
Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I'll start this by saying I wasn't a huge fan of [b:Beautiful Disaster|11505797|Beautiful Disaster (Beautiful, #1)|Jamie McGuire|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1358259032s/11505797.jpg|16441531].
That being said I was hopeful that this would be good, I love to get the guys perspective. This just didn't do it for me.
This is NOT a stand alone novel, too much information is assumed and the plot is choppy. There are so many deleted and glazed over scenes that the flow is terrible.
As a companion novel I find it lazy and lacking in depth. McGuire gives more of a summary into Travis, it feels like she had a great idea and the inspiration fizzled out and lost steam. Travis calls other guys 'pussies' and I found him to be one most of the time. I am not a Travis swooner so I wasn't surprised. He was an ass in BD and was an ass in this one too, I was surprised by how pathetic he became, always turning to sex and alcohol- nothing attractive about that.
Needless to say I was disappointed.

Review: Through the Ever Night

Through the Ever Night
Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved [b:Under the never sky|11594257|Under the Never Sky (Under the Never Sky, #1)|Veronica Rossi|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1356591725s/11594257.jpg|15093785] and somehow this sequel was better than it.
The rule is- the sequel is never better than the first and nicknamed a 'filler' book suffering from a sophomore slump. Well this novel broke all those rules and was fantastic, I can't for the next one and the novella.

Rossi.....write faster!!!!

Review: If You Stay

If You Stay
If You Stay by Courtney Cole

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Yes, the first chapter is fantastic.
The rest of the novel is very heavy and rather good. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I love unexpected surprises, especially when I pay for them ;)

Review: Until Fountain Bridge

Until Fountain Bridge
Until Fountain Bridge by Samantha Young

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Now THIS is what a novella should be like. The reader has a vague idea what happened to some beloved 'supporting characters' and the novella tells what actually happened.

Thank you Young for giving us the details on Ellie and Adam, I knew it would be hot.

Review: This Girl

This Girl
This Girl by Colleen Hoover

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have to admit, I love this series. I know it's a bit of a stretch with the 21 y/o teacher and all, but the slam really got me.
Additionally, I love it when authors write an additional novel in the love interest perspective.
This is a fantastic companion to Slammed.
I thought it was fantastic how Hoover used the angle of Will telling Layken his story during their honeymoon.
I truly hate to see the story end but at least it ended well.

Review: Spirit

Spirit
Spirit by Brigid Kemmerer

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I really wanted to love this book and, at first, I did.
I just can't get over what HAPPENED, if you've read it you know what I'm talking about.
As if Hunter hasn't been through enough.
I know the author doesn't want to stick to the typical YA style, and that's one of the aspects I love about her writing but come on!!! give a guy a break.
In the end, it made the story hallow for me and I can't get through it. I was becoming invested in their relationship and happy for both of them, they'd both lost so much and deserved a chance, it just felt wrong to have that happen.
I thought it was gutsy and took a lot of risk (which I love), it was just more tragic than anything, and not in a good way.
This is definitely my least favorite, by a long shot. It just made me sad.
